When you choose Sound Moves 55+, you can be confident you are accessing premium dance experiences that are safe, engaging and designed specifically for older adults.
Our programs are designed to address age-related challenges and enhance health and wellbeing through a tailored holistic approach that embeds:
We engage participants physically, cognitively, emotionally and socially to maximise the benefits dance can offer. Sessions are structured by ability level and delivered in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.
We have extensive experience working with a diversity of older participants with a wide range of health challenges. Many are recovering from illness, injury, or joint replacement, others live with complex, chronic conditions. We take time to learn about these conditions and understand how each individual is affected. We consider the implications for dance, and tailor sessions accordingly to support safe, confident and joyful participation.
We are recognised leaders in the dance and healthy ageing sector. Through international investigative travel and benchmarking, we have found our programs to be comparable with, and often exceed, the quality of many similar initiatives. While all dance offers some level of health benefit, we intentionally incorporate evidence-informed strategies to optimise the benefits dance can offer across the four main health domains. We regularly engage with current research, attend health conferences and collaborate with health professionals to ensure our work reflects best practice. We are also committed to raising the standard of online dance delivery by providing safe, engaging and high-quality experiences specifically designed for older adults.
Behind every Sound Moves 55+ program is a team with exceptional experience, deep care and a shared passion for helping older adults thrive. Collectively, our team brings more than a century of professional dance experience across diverse settings and roles.
As qualified educators, we apply strong pedagogical principles to create meaningful and effective dance experiences.
We actively pursue ongoing professional development through conferences, workshops and industry events across the arts, health and ageing sectors. We are committed to inclusivity and to expanding cultural representation within our programs, including collaborations with First Nations artists and artists from diverse cultural backgrounds. We continue to advocate for the important role dance can play in supporting healthy ageing and quality of life.
Our programs have been successfully delivered in community, health and aged care settings for many years. Developed through extensive practice, consultation and participant feedback, they are responsive, relevant and enjoyable. The effectiveness of our approach is reflected in positive participant outcomes, strong adherence and long-term engagement.
